Yes, I got burned by that stupid sign up for Internet for three years and lock in your rate deal. In my opinion the Internet service SUCKS, and I can't even use the wireless router. Besides, the rate's not that cheap. What was I thinking? I moved here from a province that doesn't have Telus. I didn't know. For some reason, since I downgraded from their usuriously expensive "home networking" solution (I only have one computer!) my wireless connection is all but useless. What is the use of having a laptop you have to keep connected by cable to the router? When I asked them about it they denied responsibility, blamed it on the router set up and wanted to charge me for a service call. What is that all about? Funny, I never had problems before I downgraded my service .... And I absolutely LOATHE their stupid voice activated response system. But I never promised to keep being their local phone customer. The competitor is scheduled to come in on Saturday to install digital phone service....Any guesses on how that's going to affect my service?

i signed up for a 3 year term with them after i was told they would give me 1500 minutes for $65.00. I used to pay $100 for 1000 minutes. when i told then i had a rogers phone they offered me that option. had a call from them last week.....i'm still on my old plan but i'm locked in for 36 month. The have no record of that customer service rep ever talling me that or anything like that. the claim that it was too long ago to go back and find the recording of that conversation. what a pile of shit. what do i do now?? if i cancel with them i have to pay $700 bux. i don't wnat to stay with , in my opinion, a shitty lying company. not a very happy person. I was lied to by Telus rep and it's their work against mine...guess who's screwed?? I'm open for suggestion....what can i do?? telus won't hounour what was offered to me and since nothing was logged of my comversation with the telus rep...i'm screwed.

Is this a contract you entered into over the phone?
Well, then, it sounds easy enough: if they can't be arsed to go through their phone logs to determine exactly what terms you agreed to, then they *ALSO* can't prove you ever committed to three years with them. For all anyone knows, you're on month-to-month with them.
So my advice would be to cancel the contract. When they advise you that you owe $700 (or whatever), your response should be: prove it.
If they dig out the phone records, demand that you be allowed to hear it. THEN you've got 'em nailed as to the terms of the contract.
If they don't, they'll do one or both of the following:
1) Put you into collections and/or sue you for the money they claim you owe (in small claims court).
2) Place a negative rating against you with the credit bureaux.
As to #1, without that recording (which proves that they have billed you falsely), they can't prove you owe anything. Tell that to the collections agent and/or the judge.
As to #2, same deal - pull your own file from the various credit bureaux periodically, and when the black mark shows up, challenge it. When you challenge it, Telus must provide *PROOF* that you entered into this contract, and again, that means digging up this recording.
Now, before you actually *DO* all of this, it might be a good idea to speak to a manager (not a front-line drone, but someone who can actually *DO* something) at Telus and explain just what you intend to do. Then explain that they can make this all just go away if they'll honour the terms they originally agreed to. Give them a chance to do this, and quite often they'll do it - more to make the headache go away than for any other reason.

this advice would have been great if i understood how to use this forum...unfortunately i'm still with telus but with a different plan......since all my incoming calls are free..i rack up 1500 minutes every month....i have 2 phones with rogers and as soon as my contract is up with telus...i will transfer my 2 remaining numbers to rogers ...at that point in time i will explain in detail to telus...how to take their services and shove it up their ass...if they require diagrams...i'm sure i can find it on some porn site for them.....
