We are changing neighborhoods in Calgary. A week ago, I called TELUS hoping to review a work-order I placed online regarding moving our land-line and Internet service. Now up to 11 phone calls later, each time, the next call is worse than the previous call. On the latest call, we were informed that our last adjusted, week too late, land-line # move, would have to wait yet another 5 days, as the CSR only booked a tech for one-minute work-order, rather than the 30m to 60m connecting a phone might take....
But it gets better. We used TELUS’ online tool to determine TELUS’ Internet service was available in our new neighborhood. I liked my 15Mbps previous connection, and for 10 days the TELUS order was in and twice confirmed. So yesterday, we are phoned yet again, to be told “Internet service is like a parking lot, and all the parking spaces are full.” I hung up; how stupid does TELUS think people are? If TELUS cannot capacity plan to have an adequate # of DSLAM board ports in growing neighborhoods’ COs, they don’t even disserve to hear me swear at them!
My wife is more diplomatic (at times). She phoned back, sure enough, the next nim-brained CSR says all the 15Mbps ports are full. So, we were offered a 6Mbps port and, if we call back daily or more frequently, perhaps we might get lucky enough, that when someone moves out of the neighborhood we could “win the port-re-cycle availability lottery” – ie there is no waiting list or any CSR visibility into TELUS' strategy to add capacity. Dhhu. Today, TELUS calls again, and states, well there isn’t actually any 6Mbps connections in the neighborhood either – at all, never was. We’re now looking at a 3Mbps connection, and because of the confusion, this too would have to wait two weeks after we needed originally requested/promised the service. Though the combination of IPTV/Internet on a 15 or 25 Mbps connection was something TELUS could do for us. !?!?! I want the friggin port for my Internet only, you now just told me it’s there!
TELUS is attempting to suck $ out of us to bill us for IPTV. I cannot even say that I am tempted to do a trial IPTV sign up, just to drop the IPTV just so I can use the SAME port’s BW solely for my Internet.
As much as Shaw sucks as the only Calgary alternative, TELUS lost this customer.
